Stinzenplanten is a Dutch gardening power move involving planting grass lawns with scattered groupings of naturalizing spring bulbs like crocus, snowdrops, and bluebells. Over time, the lawn transforms into a carpet of early spring blooms (they eventually die back). It is such a delight; a few years ago, I ordered a boatload of bulbs from Van Engelen/John Scheepers for my scruffy little front yard, and now, every March, it is a delicate wonderland of tiny flowers.
